After having a quite few months since the last big drama blew out of proportions with James Charles, Shane Dawson, and Jeffree Star, a recent scoop by E! News reveals that drama has followed Tati once again. As her husband, James Westbrook, is also added into the melting pot.
The report reveals that the couple is being sued for fraudulent inducement and gross negligence. Their former business partner Clark Swanson who worked with them on Halo Beauty is suing them. As Clark, who filed a lawsuit in California, claims that he originally had 50% ownership over Halo Beauty, which was then changed to 33% as requested by James and Tati before the product launch in 2018, turning them as the major shareholders.
However, Tati did not end up releasing cosmetic products under Halo Beauty, as Clark points to the launch of Tati Beauty. He further alleges that he was not informed about this change and that the couple contradicted their terms of agreement. Additionally, adding they “actively interfered with Mr. Swanson’s efforts to grow Halo Beauty.”
Although Tati has not responded, E! News revealed that Tati’s Lawyer, Douglas Fuchs, issued a statement that said : “Clark Swanson’s lawsuit is meritless… his absurd claim that Tati Westbrook granted him one-third of her name, image and likeness for all time in exchange for a modest initial capital contribution. Swanson’s claim is not only baseless, it is offensive and defies common sense. This is particularly true given that Swanson has received millions in profit distributions from Halo Beauty, almost exclusively due to the Westbrooks’ efforts. Tati and James will vigorously defend this lawsuit and are confident that the truth will come out and they will prevail.”
