Log off is a movement led by a group of teens based in Birmingham, Alabama, and worldwide. The significance of following a healthy way of approaching social media stems from the recent Netflix documentary, ‘The Social. Dilemma’, exposing the terrifying impact of the issues caused by constantly accessing social media without any purpose.
Log off claims that 3.5 billion people have access to social media, out of which 175 minutes are spent by teens, as 45% admit that they are overwhelmed by the constant use. Through different mediums ranging from podcasts, blogs, and the character ed program. The movement is paving the way for young teens and their parents to understand its impact on their mental health.
The members of the movement are currently present in the United Arab Emirates, Italy, Spain, Pakistan, Germany, and many more. Log off CEO Emma Lembke shared how the mindless scrolling of social platform created unhealthy allusions and affected her mental health. This led to her and a few more members creating the movement to educate healthy ways to use social media platforms.
They elaborate on how to challenge yourself to reduce screen time, focus on a bucket list of activities such as paint, read, call a friend with the end goal to follow a social media detox. Log Off’s Character Education Curriculum is a program with a cumulative of resources such as videos, games, and articles to adaptable for educational institutions.
