How Amanda Cerny is standing up for Farmers rights and small businesses.

Amanda Cerny, a social media influencer with nearly 2.8 million subscribers on YouTube and 25.3 million followers on Instagram, is using her platform to support Farmers’ rights in India.

In recent months, farmers in India have clashed against the government over 3 laws enacted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi that could severely harm their livelihood.

While the government is adament that the laws provide farmers more freedom, the farmers disagree and argue that the laws will lower the price of their products and that they will not protect them from potential corporate exploitation.

On February 2, 2021, Cerny posted a black and white photo of three Indian farmers with the following caption:

“The world is watching. You don’t have to be Indian or Punjabi or South Asian to understand the issue. All you have to do is care about humanity. Always demand freedom of speech, freedom of press, basic human and civil rights-equity and dignity for workers”.

Cerny’s post is refreshing and is a great example of how influencers can use their platforms to educate and inform their audience on important global issues.

In addition to posting about Farmers’ rights, Cerny launched a competition on her Instagram 2 days ago that is aimed at supporting small businesses.

Other influencers such as Elnaz Golrokh – a Dubai-based makeup artist and model – have reposted Cerny’s competition on their Instagrams as a show of support.
