Spotify will be hosting Stream On – a virtual live stream event – on February 22nd at 11 AM EST. During Stream On, Spotify will “explore the power of audio, the journey of creation, and the opportunities ahead for millions of creators and billions of fans around the world”. There will also be multiple speakers at the live stream event ranging from “global artists to Spotifiers to world-renowned storytellers”. The Stream On event can be accessed on Spotify’s website as well as their YouTube channel.
This event fits into Spotify’s mission of supporting its music artists and creative community. Stream On will play a key role in connecting creators with their fans and each other. Moreover, new artists will be able to benefit from listening to speakers who have deep industry-experience. With Covid’s impact on musicians being particularly brutal – the event’s focus on creation and opportunity will definitely be inspiring for many.
To support its creators in the Middle East, Spotify launched in the MENA region two years ago and created a Sawtik [meaning ‘Your Voice’ in Arabic] playlist that promotes Arab female music artists. This playlist demonstrates Spotify’s desire to cast a much needed spotlight on female music talent – which is largely underrepresented in the Middle East. Moreover, being featured on the playlist will give these artists access to a larger audience and potentially gain the attention of music producers. Spotify supported this initiative by putting up billboards of Sawtik artists around the region:
Additionally, Spotify supports creators through The Game Plan – an educational series that helps creators understand all about setting up their music, understanding Spotify’s analytics, building their Artist profile and more.
The Stream On event will therefore serve as an additional way that Spotify can help its music creators thrive on the platform. If you are an up-and-coming music artist – you should definitely consider tuning in later today!
