According to external sources, Instagram will be removing the swipe-up function on stories, and replacing it with a link sticker! This initiative is rumoured to be potentially available for all Instagram users.
Those who have at least 10,000 followers on Instagram or who are verified have been notified of the changes happening across the Instagram social media platform. In January 2021, statistics were published on Hootsuite stating that ‘stories ads that emphasize the call to action platform perform better 89% of the time.’ This percentage confirms the purpose of swipe-up on stories plays an extensive part in driving sales and promoting brands and influencers work on Instagram.
So why do Instagram want to remove it if it’s so good?Â
Similarly, to other social media apps which are always coming up with new ideas, Instagram are trying something new! When Instagram launched Reels in 2020, many people began creating unique videos with downloads of the app rising. As said by an article of statistics by Influencer Marketing Hub, published in August 2021, Instagram Reels in India had ‘7 million’ new installs which increased to ‘7.8 million’ in only a month.

We think the sticker function is a great idea which should be used by everyone who has the opportunity to add their links to it. With every new initiative, it is important to get involved and be the first to experiment as it will increase your social media knowledge and of course, your social media presence!
Swipe-up on stories will be removed by August 30th making way for Instagram’s latest concept of sticker links.
