Call us sad, but WhatsApp’s addition of GIFS to its messenger platform was one of our favourite things about 2017. After all, emoji’s can only express so much, right?
And so, if you’re anything like us – you’ll undoubtedly be chuffed to learn that Instagram too, has now climbed aboard the GIF train in its dissapearing Stories function.
So, how do you get GIF-ing?
Well, when you tap to add a sticker to a photo or video in stories, you’ll now see a new GIF option. Tap it to open a giant library of moving stickers (supported by GIPHY) where you can either browse what’s currently trending or search for one of your own choice.
In all honesty, we’re a touch disappointed that these GIF’s aren’t up to the same caliber and variety of their WhatsApp or Twitter counterparts…but it’s a start, right?
Instagram also told us (in the coming weeks) it plans to roll out a hugely welcome update that allows users to upload photos and videos of any size to your story — so you’ll never have to go through the hassle of cropping and re-cropping that group shot again.
Simply put, it means when you go to upload a photo or video, you’ll be able to share it in its original dimensions, whether it’s square, portrait or landscape. Bravo, Instagram.
