What should you do if you accidentally like someone’s really, really old Instagram post – and don’t want them to find out? Can you “undo” it without that person knowing? The answer is… yes!
We know it can be traumatic, but at the end of the day, it’s not the end of the world if you accidentally (or not so accidentally, and then regretted it) hit the heart button and want to take it back. We’ve rounded up eight strategic steps to help you hide your inner IG-stalker in the event of a slip-up.
Check them out below and let us know your thoughts in the comments.
1) Try to stop panicking
Breathe…and rapidly unlike the picture. Bonus points if you can do it in less than three seconds.
2) Pray they didn’t notice
Maybe they have notifications turned off? People do that, right?….RIGHT?!!
FYI: Instagram’s official page states: If you’ve accidentally liked a photo and then unliked it, the person who posted it will still get a push notification if they have notifications turned on. BUT very soon after you remove a like, the like alert will disappear from other people’s Activity.
3) Set your Instagram to private…immediately
Will only really work if your name and picture are not a giveaway. And if they are…
4) Change your Instagram handle and picture
Example: They get a notification that @Rachel86 has liked their picture, but little do they know that @Rachel86 is now @CutiePie198. Ha! Untraceable….sort of.
5) Delete your entire Instagram account
Let them try and track you down now, eh?? (consider this a last resort plan contingent on level of embarrassment)
6) Become a recluse
Who needs social media anyway?
7) Evaluate your social media stalking level
When the adrenalin rush dies down, and hopefully you’re in the clear…be honest, has your Insta behavior become unhealthy? Nah. Didn’t think so.
8) Still stressing? Try chilling out by watching a YouTube video
It could always be worse.
