Trying to add paragraphs in your Instagram captions can be a very annoying, tedious task.

Even if you manage to find the elusive “return” button on your keyboard while using the app, Instagram’s formatting doesn’t allow the caption to include line breaks.

Luckily we have a couple of easy solutions to help you out with this problem. Here’s how to (painlessly) add paragraphs in your Instagram captions. 

How To Add Paragraphs in Your Instagram Captions in the Instagram App

The idea here is to use symbols as your line breaks, which gives you an opportunity to get creative if you want use a set of emojis. If you’re looking to keep it minimal, use a symbol that is barely visible, such as a full stop instead.

Write out your first paragraph.

Next, click on the “123” button and hit “return.”

Enter your symbol of choice, before pressing “return” again and continue with typing your next paragraph.

Repeat the steps until you’ve finished your full caption.

How To Add Paragraphs in Your Instagram Captions with Notes app

There are now a surprising number of apps you can download that can help you format your Instagram captions, but there’s an easier solution…

If you’re using iOS you can try making the most of the Notes app on your phone (or even an e-mail draft).

All you need to do is open the app and type in the caption text, before sharing it within your Instagram post.

When you want to start a new paragraph, do not press space after your last word or symbol.

Immediately press “return” and continue typing your next sentence.

Copy and paste the text into Instagram: the caption will retain your paragraphs when you post it!
