Matthew McConaughey (@officiallymcconaughey) finally joined Instagram yesterday in celebration of his 50th birthday.
The Gentlemen actor posted a video on Instagram of himself giving a mini “monologue” on why he joined the platform and what he wants people to see on his page.
“When people come to my page, I want them to see me,” McConaughey said in the video.
“This is my first venture into sharing myself and my views with the world and I’m a little bit nervous about it because quite frankly, I know I want to have a monologue, I’m not sure I want to have the dialogue, but I’m learning that you have to have the dialogue to have the monologue, just as you have a monologue to have the dialogue.”
The debut comes weeks after former Friends actress, Jennifer Aniston (@jenniferaniston), broke Instagram when she first joined by posting a reunion pic with her former 90s sitcom colleagues.
In a very Matthew McConaughey fashion, the father of three announced the official news of joining Instagram by tweeting a video about it first.
“Born November the 4th 1969, got my dad’s name the very same day. But not until I turned 50, today, did I become @officiallymcconaughey. That’s my Instagram handle. See you there,” McConaughey said in the video.

The fun does not stop there because he the actor also took to Instagram stories to sing a little song about, you guessed it, joining Instagram.
“Do I have an Instagram? Well, I’d be a lot cooler if I did. But guess what? It is now a lot cooler because I do,” he sang.

Not to mention, his iconic Instagram bio says the following “Husband. Father. Actor. Minister of Culture. Professor. Creative Director. AustinFC. JKLivin,” and most importantly “Pickle Expert.”
The pickle expert was welcomed by fellow celebrities in his comment section.
“Woohoo!! Instagram just got so much BETTER,” Actress Reese Witherspoon (@reesewitherspoon) commented.
“I hope you enjoy it because it’s way more fun than I ever thought,” Professional Golfer Phil Mickleson (@philmickleson) also commented.
“I’m looking forward to sharing who I am with you. I’m looking forward to seeing if who I am translates if what I want to share translates, if it tickles your funny bone, if it makes you think a second, if it makes your heart swell up a little bit, if it makes you take a quiet moment and go for a walk,” McConaughey continued in the Instagram video.
“Let’s have some fun with it though.”
