The social network will run its first-ever Super Bowl ad in 2020, which will focus specifically on the connective benefits of Facebook Groups.
The 30 second ad (which fyi is costing them $5.6 million) will feature Chris Rock and Sylvester Stallone promoting Facebook’s social connection aspect… taking forward the “More Together” campaign.
According to CNBC News “…Fox, the network airing the 2020 Super Bowl, confirmed with CNBC in November that it had sold out its advertising slots. Fox had been selling 30-second slots for more than $5 million”
The ad below was a part of the company’s “More Together” campaign, which was first launched back in May as seen below to get people talking about Facebook Groups.
The campaign is Facebook’s first major PR push brand campaign after a year of PR disasters.
As you can see in the “Mama Clause” example, groups is the specific focus of the ‘More Together’ ad push, with Facebook giving its on-platform communities a more concerted drive since 2017. Back then, in the wake of the Cambridge Analytica scandal.
“Facebook also changed its mission statement from “Making the world more open and connected” to “Bring the world closer together” – with so many issues stemming from that open connectivity, Facebook aimed to re-align itself around community”, according to Social Media Today.
Alongside Facebooks super bowl ads, there are some interesting slots sold such as; Pop-Tarts, Hyundai, Snickers and Avocados from Mexico are among the other brands that will run ads during the mega event.
Be sure to watch out for the ad, as Facebook has been taking all the steps towards pushing their PR ever since the analytica scandal.
As Gen Z and Millenials incline towards social media platforms like Instagram or Snapchat, Facebook has become a platform for the Boomer generation…Superbowl is increasingly a Boomer event which is why it m makes sense to target this audience through the ad.
Facebook has surely been upping their game when it comes to stepping far away from any more PR disasters! Lets see if there is any ROI on the huge sum invested in the campaign…
