With gyms shut due to the COVID-19 lockdowns globally, the online fitness industry is booming.
Fitness Influencers have been hailed as online heroes as they continue to encourage the population to get active and moving despite being told to remain indoors.
Both TikTok and Instagram have experienced an unprecedented explosion in fitness and wellness content recently with the #WorkoutFromHome hashtag raking up almost half billion views on TikTok and over 200,000 posts on Instagram.
The content is not restricted only to fitness influencers though, as social media users from all backgrounds have used the tag to showcase their workouts.

The importance of remaining active while in quarantine cannot be overstated. The World Health Organization has recommended, “150 minutes of moderate-intensity or 75 minutes of vigorous-intensity physical activity per week, or a combination of both” in order to stay healthy and mentally and physically alert.
Social Media continues to play an important role in bringing the world together amidst a pandemic by showcasing activities which can be done individually ultimately leading to an impact on a global scale.
