TikTok may introduce a 'Shop Now' button for influencer videos

TikTok is currently testing a new ad format which will link advertisers to Top Tier Influencers, giving both the brand and the influencer the opportunity to display products for purchase directly on the app. A prominent call-to-action button will be available to redirect consumers to a page for purchasing. The revenue will be split between TikTok and the influencer.

This would put TikTok on the same path of other platforms, which have largely followed the same playbook in having both branding and direct-response ad products.

The feature is currently still in the early testing stages, available to only select advertisers and agencies until the company decides to roll it out further.

A TikTok spokeswoman has said, “We are constantly experimenting with ideas and features to improve the app experience for our users. TikTok is a platform for creative expression and a big part of that is showing and sharing the things you love with others. We’re in the early stages of testing a way users can add links to products to their videos and will share more updates when we have them”
