Twitter's new feature may let you limit who can reply to a tweet

Twitter has shared via their Twitter (naturally) that they’re testing a new feature which will enable users to limit who can respond directly to a tweet.

According to Tech Crunch, ‘Similar to Facebook’s post view settings, the current implementation features a small glove icon in the corner. Tapping on it brings up a “Who Can Reply?” window.’

Users will be able to pick one of three options when getting ready to post- Everyone, People You Follow and Only People You Mention.

‘If you opt for either of the latter, the reply function will be greyed out for all who don’t fit the description. They can view, like and retweet the thing, but they won’t be able to reply directly to the sender. The thread itself will also acknowledge that replies are limited,’ Tech Crunch explained.

This would be an interesting feature for the app, which has traditionally encouraged comments and user participation across the board.
