Musk shared the news of significant feature additions to Twitter via a tweet. According to his announcement, the new feature will allow users to initiate voice and video calls directly from their Twitter handles to any other user on the platform, enabling global conversations. In addition, Musk mentioned that encryption will be implemented for Twitter direct messages (DMs), and users will be able to respond to any message in a thread, not just the most recent one, and react with any emoji.
Musk stated that the release of version 1.0 of encrypted DMs is scheduled for the following day. He emphasized the strength of the encryption, asserting that even under extreme circumstances, such as a threat to his life, he would not be able to access the content of a user’s DMs.
