A day in the life of… Aida Fara

Get to know what MUA – Aida Fara – does in her “day in the life of.”

Do you ever wonder how a successful makeup artist usually spends her day? We speak to Aida Fara who is the Co-Founder and Creative Director at FaraBeauty about her “day in the life of.” Skincare, coffee dates, and herbal teas are just some of the things Aida talks about as we get right in for her 5:30 AM – 11 PM routine.

The day begins…

In the morning, I usually set my phone alarm for 5:30. Sometimes my 3-year-old son Julian wakes me earlier than the alarm, but most of the time I wake up with the alarm. I start the day with a shower and music.

At 06.00, I wake Julien and we go to the kitchen to make breakfast together. He likes to drink warm milk and cornflakes in the morning, so I make him a bowl and myself a coffee. While Julien eats breakfast and watches his favorite cartoon, I always start and end the day with my beauty routine.

Fresh face

Skincare is first and important to me, so after my shower, I use Farabeauty rosehip oil to make my skin fresh and hydrated. I follow with SPF and the rest of my makeup. I usually do light and clean makeup, but using the Frabeauty contour palette always challenges me, sometimes it’s a little more than light makeup because the colors on the palette tempt you to use more.

Organisation is key

At almost 7:12 I get Julien ready and take him first to the nursery before going to my workplace. I work at the beauty and health academy in Norway for 6 months a year, there are only 2 well knowing academy, so I work with one of them, and I’m glad that I have a routine at work! Starting the day by answering emails is a great way to get organized and set the tone for the rest of the day.

I go to class at 8:30 because I start with theory. I do the work on PowerPoint for when my students arrive at 9:00 and start teaching. After 1:30 minutes I do the demo and prepare the model for the lesson, this should finish before 11:30 then we go for lunchtime. I usually eat a very quick and light meal like a salad and start the rest of the day after 12:30 by working with students and helping them while they are practicing.

I do most of the work myself, with an assistant who does the theory days. This leaves me with more time to do my own brand Farabeauty, and I make time for other things too, like team meetings.

I might have several meetings in a day with the marketing team, with coworkers, with the branding team, and even with some students. But I’m officially done with work at 4:00. Although, in this business, there are never really fixed hours and it’s not uncommon for me to work much later.

If I have time…

…I’ll go to the gym and work out for an hour. But if my work schedule takes longer, I’ll definitely work out at home when I go home. When work finishes early on the weekends, I meet my friends in the afternoon and have dinner or coffee together. I like to spend time with my friends and co-workers.

Family time

On a normal day, I’ll be home around 6 pm on weekdays. My husband brings my son home before I arrive and most of the time prepares a delicious dinner. We have an amazing family dinner together, a little bit of play with Julian before he goes to sleep at 7:00. I then get to take a deep breath and drink herbal tea and watch a movie with my husband or talk about what we did during the day. By 10-11 pm is when I have less energy and I finish my day with a skincare routine with the rosehip oil from Farabeauty gives me fresh and healthy skin during sleep time.
