According to recent Twitter news, you can pay to get verified with a monthly subscription fee

Twitter verification may be easier than you think now, but it comes at a price…

Since Elon Musk’s Twitter takeover, there have already been quite a few changes that have happened internally and on the app. Now, Musk is working on the verification process, giving users the chance to get the blue tick, at a cost.

On Sunday, the new owner of Twitter tweeted:

Following on from this, a report by the Verge has stated that Twitter is planning to charge $20 per month for verification. If Twitter employees do not meet the deadline, they will be fired by Elon Musk.

The current subscription has a fee of $4.99 per month and once this fee is increased to $19.99, there will be a new plan introduced. This new plan will include a new Twitter Blue Subscription where current verified users will have 90 days to subscribe or they risk losing their blue checkmark.

Musk has been quite strict on the matter informing those who are working on the plan that they have a deadline of the 7th of November to launch the newest feature, or they will be fired. It seems as though the new leader has a plan of action and strict with the work. The homepage on Twitter has a new layout allowing users to see the explore section instead of the login page and sign-up.

Although no changes have been made for the content policies, Musk wants Twitter to be a platform where people have free-speech and has voiced this numerous times before. Unfortunately, some Twitter users have voiced their concerns of the platform becoming a place for hate speech if they are given so much freedom. Only time will tell how far users will go now on the platform and what the concequences will be – if there are any.
