Mecca, Saudi Arabia – The Ministry of Health announced that pilgrims intending to perform Hajj this year will be required to have received two doses of a COVID-19 vaccine and a booster shot. This decision was made as part of the measures to ensure the safety and well-being of all pilgrims amidst the ongoing pandemic.

The approved vaccines in the Kingdom include Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna, AstraZeneca, Covovax, Nuvaxovid, Sinophram, Sinovac, Covaxin, Sputnik-V, and Janssen (1 shot).
Additionally, seasonal influenza and meningitis vaccinations are required for pilgrims.
According to Saudi Gazette noted that being vaccinated is possible 10 days before the Hajj season starts and that receiving a booster shot is required. The Hajj season will run from June 26 through July 1 this year.
According to the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, there won’t be any limitations this year, after three years of the pandemic limiting the number of pilgrims.
