ITP Live catches up with the influencer to talk about her journey, how long it takes to put her content together, and what she means by being Boujee…

Q: Tell us a little about yourself and your journey towards being an influencer

SN: I am a fashion & lifestyle content creator based in Dubai. Being the eldest child in the family, I had the opportunity to taste independence and maturity at a very early age which polished my decision-making skills, one of which was quitting 9-5 and pursuing my passion.

My journey

Since my childhood, I was very passionate about my daily OOTDs. I remember planning my daily outfits for college and saving up money to buy new clothes and makeup. I would mix and match my outfits every single day and apply rosy pink lipstick on my lips and cheeks, I felt like a diva in my own little world.

Taking an Influencer as a career was never on my mind, during the initial days it was more like a hobby simply because I had a well-paying job. However, the pandemic came in as a blessing when I resigned and started creating content on my Instagram full-time, trust me it was the most satisfying feeling ever.

Q. In your IG bio, you have written ‘I make everything Boujee’ – what do you mean by making everything ‘Boujee’?

SN: That IG bio came from a follower who bumped into me at a grocery store, I was wearing my least favourite lounge set with plain white sneakers and she complimented me by saying ‘hey you look so boujee’.

I personally believe it’s the self-confidence that makes you look Boujee and not a 1000$ outfit. I might not look my best every day but I always ‘own it’ and carry it like a boss.

3. You create content on outfits, beauty looks, and your lifestyle. Which one is your favourite to create and which one do your followers prefer watching?

SN: I love creating content that is a blend of styling and makeup, and I believe my followers enjoy watching that as well, simply because it’s more relatable and doable for them. However, I do share my fitness journey as part of my lifestyle because it comes organically to me, and it inspires a lot of young girls on my page.

4. How long does it take to create your content? For example, when you’re doing a beauty tutorial?

SN: Well, it takes about 5-6 hours roughly, depending upon the kind of content I’m creating, sometimes I have to reshoot the entire look if I don’t like particular footage while editing. The whole process is very challenging physically and mentally but owning that hard work is also empowering along the way.

5. Your IG platform performs better than your YouTube channel – does this make you focus on your IG channel more or do you still work on creating a strategy for YouTube to grow your followers?

SN: Yes, it does make me focus more on IG but I do aspire to grow on YouTube as well. I feel very passionate about making Vlogs and sharing beauty tutorials, there’s a lot in the pipeline for Youtube in the coming months. I am aware that it’s a long journey and takes a lot of consistency and authenticity, but I guess that’s the way to make it on any social media platform.

6. Do you have a social media strategy? If so, what is it?

SN: I won’t call it a strategy but work hygiene. Being organized is the key to success and I truly stand by that, I have my days when I’m just brainstorming ideas and creating a vision board for my page. Also, I schedule 80-90% of the posts in advance which makes my life a lot easier.

7. What is your favourite social media platform to use and why?

SN: It must be IG for sure, I love watching and creating Reels. I have immense love and gratitude for the platform as it has given me the most genuine audience.

8. Finally, how does your husband react to you being an influencer, taking pictures, spending time on videos, etc? Can it affect your relationship if you don’t have the correct balance?

SN: My husband is proud of what I do and is my biggest cheerleader. Apart from helping me with my content, he always pushes me to be the most amazing version of myself.

To be honest it’s impossible to have a perfect balance between career and relationship, depending upon the situation you may have to prioritize between either of them. However, it doesn’t affect our relationship because we have set boundaries and we always manage to carve out time for each other.
