Instagram introduces new audio features for ‘Reels’

Instagram launched another set of updates for Reels and it’s all about the audio!

Instagram introduces new audio features for ‘Reels’

Instagram Reels is still aligning its features to its apparent clone, TikTok. The recent updates are said to help users engage themselves in the current music-related trends that arise within the platform. The new audio feature follows the recent update of Reels revealed back in August, that introduced fresh editing options as well as allowed users to produce and post videos up to a 30-second duration.

The new features introduced to Instagram Reels are:

  • Save Audio where users can save the sounds within the app and later use it in their own Reels Clips.
  • Share Audio Pages with which creators can share the collection of Reels that use a specific audio via Direct Messaging.
  • Audio Browser where users can actively search for sounds or videos that use a specific sound.

The recent Reel additions are similar to TikTok in a few aspects, especially since music is an integral part for both platforms as various trends are born with the availability of different sounds on the app.

Short clips of popular soundtracks definitely do make the cut, however, with the availability of Share Audio Pages, many underrated and comedic remixes and sounds gain popularity depending on the algorithm.

With the recent integration of Instagram Direct and Facebook Messenger, soundtracks can reach a wider audience with the Share Audio Pages option.

After announcing Instagram’s shopping integration feature recently, Reels is allegedly also working on ‘Reels Monetization’ for their users.

With the launch of new updates, Reels is likely to hit it off among the audience. Currently the platform is performing well in India, where TikTok has been banned.
