The popular Friends actress, Jennifer Aniston, recently interviewed on Variety‘s Actors on Actors series with Sebastian Stan.
During the discussion about her role in the newsroom drama The Morning Show, Jennifer made a comment which alarmed many online content creators and influencers.
She said, “I feel so lucky that we got a little taste of the industry before it became what it is today. More streaming services… you’re famous from TikTok… you’re famous from YouTube… you’re famous from Instagram… it’s almost like it’s diluting the actor’s job.”
The actress saying “it’s diluting the actor’s job” created mixed reviews on social media, more specifically on Twitter. Aniston shared a build-up to the comment –“I always say I feel lucky that we got a little taste of the industry before it became what it is today, which is just different – more streaming services, more people.”
Reaction
Many people on social media reacted to the comment:
I love Jen but I don’t get this mindset at all. You spent the 90s marketing yourself at parties and auditioning for roles. They spent their time posting videos or selfies and marketed themselves on social media. It’s the same thing just this is providing more ways to get a step- https://t.co/xg59utGrKx

Right : some can become famous by doing absolutely nothing but selling teens discounts on 💩 products
Wrong : some talented people have emerged from social media. We are tired of the daughter/son of a well know celibrity with ZERO talent https://t.co/fnT3xZ8Z1P
It’s simply called evolving and the emergence of new industries and ways of entertainment 🫠🫠 https://t.co/UZucZW28Vh

This is so true TBH. There are just some people popping out of nowhere from socmeds. Those artists who spent time and effort in polishing their talents may it be acting, singing, and dancing are robbed. https://t.co/q7ZiNtiKbh
