Everyone has their goals at the start of the year, in which we call our “new year resolutions,” but do we ever stick to them? My new year resolution was to get fit and that involved taking up yoga and pilates classes.
According to hopkinsmedicine.org, yoga supports stress management, mental health, mindfulness, healthy eating, weight loss, and quality sleep. With social media becoming the best source of inspiration, I took to my phone, scrolled through many different profiles, and curated a list of influencers who practiced and taught yoga in Dubai. I am now sharing this list with you to help give you motivation, and practice yoga wherever you are! Whether it be in the gym, at home, on the beach, or in a class, get inspired to get up and move!
1. Allaoua Gaham
‘Mindful yogi meets an army drill sergeant with raw sense of humor’ is what Allaoua Gaham’s Instagram bio reads. Allaoua has over 107 thousand followers on his Instagram, and for a good reason. His fearless approach to yoga has earned him followers who learn techniques from his page and his classes. Allaoua not only shares his yoga poses on his social account, but also other things he is doing to motivate people like Tedx talks, Yoga Fest workshops, and campaigns he is part of using his talent.
2. Chandnee Kaurani
If you love everything wellness, skincare, and fashion, Chandnee’s page has the perfect mix of each. On Chandnee’s profile, you will find Reels to help you perfect your poses, step-by-step on how to do them, and the benefits of each pose. She makes sure she picks the perfect backdrop in her posts to make you want to go out and connect with nature too.
3. Dina
Feeling stressed? On wellnesswithdina’s page, she helps stressed-out seekers get calm and connected. If you have a busy schedule (like me), then Dina is the perfect escape from your every day worries. Along with Dina’s posts, she gives us daily reminders to help us de-clutter our minds and focus on being mindful.
4. Bliss Yoga by Norah
Learn a new pose by yourself or with a partner. Unlike introverts who like doing things by themselves, extroverts may want a workout buddy. Bliss Yoga by Norah will give you techniques that you can do with a partner to empower each other and finish your workout together, to feel a-ma-zing.
5. Sarah Medina
The reason why I was drawn to Yoga teacher Sarah Medina’s page, is from the flow of her page. Sarah is smooth in the way she poses and uses her poses to blend in with her surroundings. Feel empowered through Sarah’s posts and calmer with her mantras on her captions. Her affirmations will help you to feel confident, and stronger in your body.
6. Tania Romanenia
No, I don’t have children (yet), but if you do, then Tania has the cutest yoga video with her daughter that you can do together. In an article from yogiapproved.com, they say that Yoga helps children to relax, relieve stress and anxiety, sleep better, improve emotional regulation, increase empathy, and improve mood and affect. It’s not just of Tania and her little one, but also just of Tania spreading magic on her page with yoga poses from day to night.
7. Salah Mireh
Discover new wonders with Salah Mireh. Salah will encourage you to disconnect and rejuvenate on his page spreading love and positivity. As a Yogi, speaker, and “free soul,” Salah motivates his followers with his retreats and posts.
8. Diana Azavedo
You will literally feel radiance after clicking off Diana’s posts. Instead of uploading short-form Reels to her page, Diana stays to the traditional kind of posts, posting longer form videos for her followers to really engage and learn yoga from her. Feel zen as you feel like you’re part of her class and switch off from everything else you’re doing.
9. Sabrina
Sabrina illuminates beauty in her posts. Having recently celebrated Global Wellness Day on the 12th June, Sabrina upload to her gram an image from her Yin&Mediation class at the Burj al Arab. Although Sabrina does not upload many of her yoga techniques, her captions will keep you sane as she gives you techniques on practises you should do daily to help your mind, body, and soul.

10. Yulia
As a certified yoga instructor, Yulia’s posts are a breath of fresh air. On Yulia’s page, you can explore different yoga styles to help you figure out which one of them you prepare and which helps you the most. There are also quotes on Yulia’s page just to give you those daily manifestations and signs you (we all) need!
It doesn’t just have to be your new year goal to practice yoga, but I would like this article to help motivate you at any time of the year to do something good and healthy for yourself. Yoga does not only help calm your mind and body but also helps with anxiety as well as helps your body physically to be more flexible and stronger.
