Reels are a huge part of the content created by Instagram influencers and one of the best ways to promote engagement on a page.
Did you spend hours creating the perfect reel only to accidently remove it from your profile grid? Don’t stress, it isn’t the end of the world. We have listed two ways by which you can get your reel back on your profile. While it was possible to “Add to Profile Grid” with the old version of Instagram, it isn’t as easy with the updated versions. It also doesn’t look like Instagram is bringing back the option anytime soon, here are a few ways you can work around this situation.
Where can Reels be found on Instagram?
The reels section of Instagram can be found separately just like your IGTV videos and tagged photos. All reels posted to your profile will be seen on the reels section of your Instagram app. The reels will also be automatically posted to your profile, you can decide to keep it on your profile or take it off so that it is only seen in your reels section.
Even though your reels will be more easily discovered on your profile grid, it might not necessarily fit the aesthetic of your feed. To help in such scenarios, Instagram makes it possible to remove your reels from your profile grid. Unfortunately the reverse option is currently unavailable!
Let’s look at the two ways you can get the reel you accidently removed back on your profile!
Get your reels back on your profile grid
This is only possible if you are using android. iOS users will have to use an android phone to be able to get back their reels on the profile grid.
Use an old version of Instagram
To do this all you have to do is follow these few steps!
- Uninstall the Instagram app on your phone. Make sure to save all your drafts as these will be lost when you uninstall the app.
- Once you have uninstalled the app, you can go ahead and download the APK for an older version of the app
- You can download the old version from websites like APK Mirror
- After downloading the APK all you have to do is install it!
- Now you can go ahead and get your reels back on your profile grid!
This is an easy way to go about the process if you use android, but it might be a bit of a hassle if you use iOS.
Repost your reel
Now this is a good way to get your reels back on your profile. However, this means you will lose the engagement you gained on the profile. All the likes and comments on the post will be gone when you delete and repost your reel. Here are the simple steps you should follow to delete and repost your reel.
- Go to the reels section of your profile
- Open the reel you would like to delete
- Click the three-dot button on the right side of the screen and select delete
- Once you have deleted the reel, you can upload the new one just like you did before!
Make sure you downloaded the reel before you deleted the reel. It will be saved to your camera roll without audio. All you have to do when you upload the reel again is to add the audio and type in your caption! You can make any other edits you would like the second time you upload.
Losing the reach on your post can be heart-breaking and it is preferable to download an older version of Instagram and get your post back. Having said that, reposting your video will give you the opportunity to change up a few things on your post and make it better!
