The long-awaited EA’s Need for Speed new racing game entry is soon to be announced. Read all the details of what to expect

Need for Speed

Electronic Arts’ newest entry to the family of racing games has finally been announced for the trailer reveal date of the new Need For Speed title. The official title for the next game of the franchise has not yet been announced, but luckily for all adrenaline-speeding game junkies out there, you don’t have to wait much longer.

Nearly three years after the release of Need for Speed: Heat, the highly anticipated entry in EA’s racing archives will be made public during the trailer reveal on 6 October 2022, at 7 pm, EST. The premiere trailer has already been scheduled on YouTube with a clock countdown that has fans in a whirlwind of excitement. Need for Speed fans has since been flocking pre-premiere chat rooms online to discuss possible title options for the game as well as what to expect in the updated entry.

Chat rumours have been circulating that the newest installment would be titled Need for Speed: Unbound, although nothing has been made official the rumoured title does have a good ring to it.

Fans and Twitter users have been tweeting back and forth, predicting the official game release date as December 2nd. That will only leave a 3-month period between reveal and release, which would’ve been normal for all the other Need For Speed titles released in the past, but considering that the franchise has been dormant for 3 years we wonder if it won’t be more beneficial if EA uses more time to create more hype before the official release?

Nothing set in stone, fans have also stirred up speculations that the newest entry would include anime elements – something that has never been seen in the Need for Speed series.

As fans wait in anticipation to see the new specs of what the new game would entail we take a look at some of the great and not-so-great features of the previous Need for Speed titles that’s been circling around fans on Twitter.

In September of this year, Need for Speed: Heat was made available for free to all PS Plus subscribers, with the hopes that it will revive online talks and engagement of the series that has been quite stagnant over the past few years to create some pre-launch hype before the official release.

Online talks have however highlighted some mixed opinions on the entry, with many calling for a return to the adrenaline-fueled street racing that’s fondly remembered by many of Need for Speed: Underground or Need for Speed: Most Wanted fans.

A lot of the feedback and online comments released were positive, as some users stated their excitement while others began pleading about what cars they would like to see have a comeback for this series. However, as in the tweet above, there has been much talk about players constantly giving their insight into what developers should incorporate for gamers to be satisfied.

Many have taken to the platform to plead for cars and tweaks while others called out EA for never listening to their fans and aren’t getting their hopes up. Ultimately, time will tell what Need for Speed fans will be in for in the not-so-distant future.
