Italian luxury fashion house Maison Valentino recently announced that it will collaborate with Elsa Majimbo – a 19-year old social media star – on a special project, with details on the collaboration to be revealed shortly.
Majimbo is the latest TikTok star to strike a deal with a major luxury-fashion brand: during the pandemic, the comedian rose to fame on TikTok with her blunt and unreserved comedy style that has won her nearly 619k followers and 6.6 million likes. Majimbo also shares her videos on her Instagram (@majimb.o) and has gained an audience of 2.2 million.
This announcement on her collaboration with Valentino comes days after Majimbo revealed her very first cover on the latest issue of Teen Vogue of Young Hollywood 2021 – which highlights “the creators who’ve kept us entertained and the people at the front of culture – pushing us to think, laugh, dance, and cry”. In the issue, Majimbo is featured dressed head-to-toe in Valentino alongside fellow comedian Ziwe Fumudoh, rapper Lil Yatchy, dancer Michael Le and American TikTok star Charli D’Amelio.
Majimbo’s brand collabs don’t stop there. The TikTok comedian is also an ambassador for Fenty Beauty and bagged her first deal with MAC Cosmetics last May. She has also made guest appearances across media and TV: Majimbo – who is a 15x chess champion – featured in a Netflix YouTube video titled ‘Is Elsa Majimbo The Real Queen’s Gambit? | Strong Black Lead’ one month ago and has appeared on TV channels such as Comedy Central and CNN. This February, she was also nominated for a Nickelodeon Kids Choice Award and won E! People’s Choice Awards in the African Social Star category.
