It has been announced by Julia Morley – CBE – Chairman of Miss World Limited, that the 71st Miss World Festival will be held right here in the United Arab Emirates in 2023.
Miss World first started in 1951 with 27 candidates competing to win the title Swedish model and beauty Queen Kiki Håkansson became the first winner of the beauty pageant and was crowned wearing a bikini – she was the only winner to have ever been presented the crown in swimwear.
Since then, the pageant has become an iconic event with winners going on to do major things. Miss India winner Priyanka Chopra is a global star who has been in hit Bollywood and now Hollywood movies. Aishwarya Rai also won Miss World in 1994 as Miss India in South Africa and since then won many awards for her exceptional acting as well as attended major events and film festivals such as Cannes Film Festival.
As Miss World 2023 comes to the UAE, many girls fight for the title in order to travel the world and do what they are passionate about. Whether it be to fulfill their dreams in a modeling and acting career, or volunteer around the world using their voice for good on social media, it gives women a chance to have their talents and passions recognised.
