As Sanpchat tries to keep up with the “Reels” feature that Tik Tok, Instagram, and Youtube implemented. Snap allowed its users to incorporate music and sounds into the content they create and it is consistently improving on those sound features. Snapchat recently added two new features to sounds on Snap to make the user experience on the app even better. Keep reading to learn more about Snap’s new features and how to use them.

Sounds on Snap

Music and visuals go hand in hand, and sometimes, sounds can help tell a story more effectively than images or words. Snapchat has utilized this realization by launching Sounds on Snap, allowing users to add music to their Snaps.

Sounds on Snap was launched on Snapchat in October 2020. To mark the launch and gather interest, Snapchat offered Justin Bieber’s ‘Lonely’ in its featured songs list 24 hours before the track’s official release date. Two years in, Snapchat continues to add new sound features, with the most recent ones being Licensed audio and montages.

Licensed Music/Audio

The first feature allows you to find relevant sounds to complement a Lens, by tapping on the Sounds icon when applying a Lens to a photo or video, giving you the ability to add licensed song clips, excerpts from TV and movies, and your own original audio to your Snaps and Stories. The feature is rolling out globally on iOS and Android.

Montages

The second feature enables you to select between 4 and 20 photos/videos from your camera roll and create a montage video that is automatically in rhythm to the beat of audio tracks from the Sounds library. The feature is rolling out globally on iOS and will be available on Android in March.

These new features are expected to boost user engagement and time spent on the platform. This launch comes as Snapchat recently revealed that it has grown to over 750 million monthly active users.
