How to enable Instagram’s ‘Sensitive Content Control’ feature

On July 20, Instagram introduced a new feature called ‘Sensitive Content Control’ to help users filter content from the explore section.

Instagram revealed that the new feature, if enabled, would prevent users from viewing inappropriate or offensive content under the explore tab:

“This new feature gives you control over sensitive content. You can decide to leave things as they are, assuming you’re satisfied with your experience today, or you can adjust the Sensitive Content Control to see more or less of some types of sensitive content. We recognize that everybody has different preferences for what they want to see on Explore, and this control will give people more choice over what they see.”

To turn on Instagram’s Sensitive Content Control feature, follow these steps:

  1. Go to your Instagram profile
  2. Tap on the three line icon at the top right corner
  3. Tap on “Settings”
  4. Tap on “Account”
  5. Click on “Sensitive Content Control”
  6. You can now tap on “Limit Even More” to hide sensitive content from the explore tab. If you wish to undo the changes, follow the previous steps and then click on the “Limit” option for Instagram to show you all types of content. Instagram users under the age of 18 will not be able to view the “Allow” option.
