No. 1 most-watched streaming service
According to Nielsen Gauge Report 2023, YouTube has become the No.1 most-watched streaming service for TV in America again. Reports state the increased viewership from the last month has made YouTube a leader in streaming services, reaching over 150 million people on connected TVs.
In streaming land, #LoveIsBlind and #TheNightAgent were the most-streamed programs in April. Streaming now accounts for 34% share of total TV.

CEO of YouTube, Neal Mohan excitedly made two announcements in YouTube’s streaming offering in the Upfront 2023:
- 30-Second Non-Skip Ads to YouTube Select
- Instead of watching two 15-second ads consecutively, they’ll see one ad for 30 seconds on CTV.
- Long-form creative content will allow richer storytelling which viewers expect.
- New Pause experiences to CTV
- Creating a unique interactive moment when people pause a video.
YouTube’s Own Words
Neal Mohan, YouTube’s CEO also hyped YouTube’s ability to tap into artificial intelligence (AI), saying, “Our teams are already using AI to get ads in front of the right audiences, to improve measurement or to flip a creative to reach viewers wherever they’re watching.”
But it’s “really just the beginning,” he said: “Simply put, AI will transform the way we make videos. You can imagine that with just the click of a button, I could change my hair color or change my background to instantly transport myself from the desert to a forest.”
