Pinterest introduces new monetisation tools for influencers

Pinterest has announced new monetization efforts for digital creators, with Idea Pins now available as shoppable pins. Digital creators can now partner with brands and monetize their content using affiliate links wherein if a user clicks on the tagged product link, the creator would get a commission. The Idea Pins product tagging tool is currently available to all business accounts in the U.S. and UK and will be extended to international creators in the coming months.

Aya Kanai, Pinterest Head of Content & Creator Partnerships, shared that the new monetization feature would further help creators to inspire users and help brands to effectively promote their products on the platform:

“Pinterest is the place where creators with inspiring and actionable ideas get discovered. With this latest update, we’re empowering Creators to reach millions of shoppers on the platform and monetize their work. Creators deserve to be rewarded for the inspiration they deliver to their followers, and the sales they drive for brands. Creators are central to our mission to bring everyone the inspiration to create a life they love, and we’ll continue working with them to build their businesses and  find success on Pinterest.”

Moreover, Pinterest has beta-launched its paid partnership tool for creators to disclose their paid partnership with brands. The “paid partnership” label will be featured in their Idea Pin after the brand authorizes the tag:

“This tool will make it even easier for Creators to disclose partnerships with brands and use their expertise to connect with Pinners authentically. We’re focused on building a creator platform centered on inspiration over influence and entertainment. With these latest updates, Creators can make their content more actionable and shoppable, make a living and easily partner with brands.”

This feature has been rolled out to a few creators across the US, UK, Canada, Australia, Ireland, New Zealand, France, Spain, Italy, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Sweden, Brazil, Argentina, Mexico, Chile, Colombia and Peru.
