Facebook has announced new initiatives to help users support their favourite teams in the ongoing Olympic Games Tokyo. The features include AR effects, hashtags and many more across its three platforms Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp.
Facebook will be hosting highlights, athlete profiles and interviews from the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games:
“In select countries, fans will have access to highlights from Tokyo 2020, athlete profiles and interviews throughout the course of the Games via official Olympic broadcasters’ Facebook Pages and Instagram accounts. This includes NBC Universal in the US, Eurosport for parts of Europe, and beIN in the Middle East and North Africa. In select territories including India, Russia, Sub-Saharan Africa and Spanish-speaking Latin America, fans can see the day’s highlights from Tokyo on the official Olympics Facebook Page.”

1. Facebook
Facebook will be providing an all-in-one resource hub of the latest news, information about the teams and athletes contesting, Olympics history and many more. Facebook users can access the information here or by using the hashtags #Olympics or #Tokyo2020.
2. Instagram
With Instagram’s new AR effects, users can attempt to imitate Miraitowa’s – official Olympics mascot – movements using the @olympics AR effect to earn AR medals. @Tokyo2020 has also rolled out their own AR effect featuring the official music of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
In addition to this, Instagram is also featuring eleven Olympians on its official instagram account to highlight their behind the scenes preparations for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
3. WhatsApp
Olympics is bringing WhatsApp users their very own AI chatbot that provides information regarding the Olympics timeline, latest news and medal standings. Olympic stickers and quiz events pertaining to various Olympics sports will also be available.
