HERE’S HOW YOU CAN BLOCK ABUSIVE AND RACIST COMMENTS IF YOU'RE AN INFLUENCER

Instagram has set out a bunch of new rules to make sure cyber-bullying is not at its forefront. This is a necessary measure in a hyper-digital age like ours. Here is a set of new features Instagram is working on to make this is a kinder community:

  1. The ability for people to limit comments and DM requests during spikes of increased attention.
  2. Stronger warnings when people try to post potentially offensive comments.
  3. The global rollout of our Hidden Words feature, which allows people to filter abusive DM requests.

An official announcement from Instagram HQ states, “We don’t allow hate speech or bullying on Instagram, and we remove it whenever we find it. We also want to protect people from having to experience this abuse in the first place, which is why we’re constantly listening to feedback from experts and our community, and developing new features to give people more control over their experience on Instagram”

These safety and preventive features are called ‘Limits’.  It helps you limit your privacy settings to turn it on, or off, whenever you want. This social media platform is also exploring ways to detect when you may be experiencing a spike in comments and DMs, so they can prompt you to turn on your ‘Limits’. Affective 10th August, 2021 onwards.

This safety feature was developed to make people aware of their actions before they make it. It looks something like this:
