Gmail’s parent company Google is adding the ability to react to an email with an emoji. Depending on your POV, this could be a nightmare or an absolute delight.

Google brings emoji reactions to Gmail
Google has confirmed it is bringing emoji reactions to its Gmail service. The feature will gradually roll out, starting with Android users and coming to web and iOS users over the next few months.
If you’re an Android user, you’ll see a smiley face emoji 🙂 at the bottom of a message. Once you click on that, you can choose the emoji you want to react with from the menu. Now just tap and send. A couple of emoji will have special powers, including the party popper emoji 🎉 that will enable a full-page animation. Yay.
Beware that emoji reactions will work best on Gmail. If you use a third-party email client, every person’s reaction will arrive as a separate email ðŸ˜. However, that isn’t the case with Gmail recipients. For them, total reactions will appear at the bottom of the email.
While the feature is fun and exciting, it does come with a few restrictions. For instance, for obvious reasons, emoji reactions cannot be used with school or work accounts. According to Google, they also won’t be available if the message is sent to more than 20 people, to a group email list, or if you’ve been bcc’d.
This is the latest in new features of Google’s emojis. They recently revealed Emoji Kitchen on the web for all users, which works by combining two or more existing emojis to create new and unique combinations. It’s too early to tell what else Google will release with its emojis.
