Going To Do The #zoomchallenge? Be Careful!

This new viral challenge comes with a few risks

Going To Do The #zoomchallenge? Be Careful!

Move over, #kikichallenge. Social media fans are on to the next one…

A few weeks ago Janaya Underwood and her mother came up with the idea of the #zoomchallenge.

If you haven’t heard of it yet, don’t worry.

The challenge has been out for a while now but didn’t go viral until a few days ago.

In the past week, there has been an increase in the number of netizens “zooming” themselves across bathroom and kitchen floors to the song “Mickey” by American rapper Lil Yachty.

After all, participating in the #zoomchallenge is pretty straightforward – much easier than the #kikichallenge.

All you need is a smartphone, a Spotify account and a friend willing to yank you by your feet across a hard, smooth surface.

According to Women’s Health Magazine participants have been filming themselves listening to the song, which has the lyrics “Trappin’ out the back streets, runnin’ through the packs like a track meet–ZOOM!” in it.

At the mention of the word “zoom”, the individual is pulled out of the frame by their legs.

The only problem is some people have been getting hurt by doing the #zoomchallenge.

Yikes!

“In some situations, people are hitting their heads in the process . . . you can even hear when their skull hits whatever hard surface they’re sitting on,” Women’s Health Magazine said.

#Zoomchallenge in the club?

While we understand everyone is keen to participate in a viral challenge, safety should always be the first priority.

While being pulled across a floor might not be as dangerous as a driver exiting their moving vehicle, serious injury can still happen.

The risk of whiplash, neck injuries and/or concussions are very real with the #zoomchallenge, so be extra careful if you want to give it a go…
