This past weekend Harper’s BAZAAR Arabia put technology, heritage, and creativity on the front line at the #BAZAARcapsule exhibition.
The five-day exhibition took place from Oct 8-12 at the Mall of The Emirates in Dubai. The event featured AW19 collections, multiple guest speakers and some of the biggest names in the fashion industry.
From on-stage interviews with industry icons like Victoria Beckham to talking robots, here’s how it all went down at the first #BAZAARCapsule event.
Sophia The Robot Speaks Out Against Robophobia
Sophia The Robot is the world’s first robot citizen of Saudia Arabia. She has been featured in many publications, including The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
On stage with BAZAAR’s Olivia Phillips, she said that there is “no need for robophobia” when asked if people should be afraid of robots.
Designer Iris Van Herpen’s Future Plans
The Dutch designer sat down with BAZAAR’s Editor in Chief Salma Awwad to discuss futuristism in her work.
“I think it’s really beautiful when technology and fashion come together. Technology can really elevate and change craftmanship,” Van Herpen said.
Egyptian Glamour Actress Yousra Talks Beauty And Age
Awwad also spent some time chatting with the cinematic icon and actress, Yousra, about the importance of staying true to yourself and how beauty is different at every age.
“Your heart, honestly, gives everything on your face. All what you are from inside,” she said.
Conceptual Artist Marwah Al Mugait Talks 3D Projection Mapping
The Saudi artist spoke about using 3D in her artwork.
“I wanted to have this visual language that is approachable to the public and for them to easily understand what they’re looking at,” said Al Mugait.
Peter Pilotto and Christopher de Vos On What They Think Of Digital Printing
The creative duo told presenter and social media influencer, Rosemin Manji (@roseminsworld), what they think of digital printing.
“On one hand, you are able to get more exposure because of the internet and social media,” Peter Pilotto and Christopher De Vos said. “But on the other hand, the pace continues to pick and the attention spars are gone down.”
Style Icon Victoria Beckham On What Her Legacy Is
Harper’s BAZAAR Arabia’s Olivia Phillips had the chance to ask Victoria Beckham on what she would like her legacy to be.
“I would like to look back on my career and think that it was a brand that was about making women feel good about themselves,” Beckham said.
Important Guests Attend The #BAZAARcapsule Dinner Party
Other highlights of the exhibition include The BAZAAR Capsule dinner party where Rosemin Manji, got to bond with icon Victoria Beckham.
Other important faces in the event included Huda Kattan, CEO and founder of Huda Beauty.
