Social media influencers and content creators in the UAE are now required to obtain a business license before applying for a media license, in accordance with the UAE Media Regulation Law that took effect on May 29, 2025. Previously, they only needed a media license from the UAE Media Council, but the new policy introduces an additional layer of regulation to ensure compliance with business standards for commercial activities.
Recognizing the significance of this transition, the UAE Media Council has waived media license fees for three years to support influencers and content creators as they adapt to the updated requirements. This regulatory shift reflects the nation’s broader commitment to fostering accountability and professionalism in the digital media landscape.
