Recognized for her hits Bodak Yellow, I Like It, Bartier Cardi and WAP, Belcalis popularly known as Cardi B is easily one of the top internet personalities today.
According to TMZ, Cardi officially filed documents in the Supreme Court in Georgia under their real names, Belcalis Marlenis Almanzar and Kiari Cephus. In her initial filing of divorce, she stated how she was ‘seeking primarily physical custody along with legal custody’ of Kulture, their two year old daughter. However, according to newer reports, a joint custody of their child might be agreed upon between Cardi and Offset.
Cardi and Offset met in 2016, and ever since then, they went through an on-and-off relationship with a fair share of ups and downs. Their relationship has been rocky for quite a while, especially after January 2018, when cheating rumors about Offset flooded the public. However, these rumors weren’t a first for the couple.
A detail that the public may have potentially missed is one where Cardi and Offset engaged in a secret wedding ceremony back in 2017 after the release of her single ‘Bodak Yellow’.
Earlier in August 2020, Cardi admitted that her relationship carried drama with ELLE for their September issue. “There’s always rumors about me and my husband, and I feel like people would rather start rumors because they want me to be heartbroken. They want me to be hurt.” she said. Cardi expressed how even though her rocky relationship with Offset was laced with drama there were also other elements to hold onto. “But there’s a lot of love, there’s a lot of passion. There’s a lot of trust, there’s a big friendship. It’s always us against the world.” the rapper continued.
A moment that fans will never forget occurred amidst all the cheating rumors and tension between the two in 2018 when Offset unexpectedly showed up to Cardi’s ‘Rolling Loud’ set to beg her for forgiveness right in front of the crowd. Cardi’s decision to file for divorce was taken just days before what would’ve been their third wedding anniversary.
According to Fulton County Court in Georgia, a hearing is set for November 4th. Hollywood Unlocked was the first to report the news.
