Fans are getting a Suicide Squad spinoff series ‘Peacemaker’, starring John Cena!

The new TV series, Peacemaker was derived from the upcoming Suicide Squad Sequel.  Directed by James Gunn, the series will shine light on Peacemaker, played by John Cena and the origins of the character. Gunn will be writing and directing multiple episodes in the series including the Pilot.

The fresh new series based on the DC Comics character, is exhibited as an action adventure comedy!  

Although details of the plot remain unknown, Variety reports how the series will explore the origins of Peacemaker, a man who believes in bringing peace in any situation and at any cost, even if he has to kill people to achieve it. Allegedly, nothing in Peacemaker’s way halts him.

“’Peacemaker’ is an opportunity to delve into current world issues through the lens of this superhero/supervillain/and world’s biggest douchebag.” Gunn says according to Variety. He continues, “I’m excited to expand “The Suicide Squad” and bring this character from the DC film universe to the full breadth of a series. And of course, to be able to work again with John, Peter, and my friends at Warner Bros. is the icing on the cake.”

Peacemaker, the series is currently the second expansion of the renowned DC Franchise to be welcomed on HBO Max. The Verge reports that HBO will most likely stream Synder Cut of Justice League with exclusive rights, next year!

According to Warner Bros, the new series is set in the same world as The Suicide Squad. With the production set to begin in early 2021, the streaming service has already ordered 8 episodes to be produced. The Suicide Squad is expected to hit the theatres on August 6, 2021.
“James Gunn has the unique ability to create an expansive universe while also bringing to life the soul and wit of each character. We look forward to a deep dive into the world of ‘Peacemaker’”, said Chief Content Officer for HBO and HBO Max, Casey Bloys, according to Variety.
