Like other platforms, Tik Tok has been attempting to secure music licensing agreements with the industry giants. Tik Tok has now revealed that they have finally signed a new licensing deal with Sony Music Entertainment. This opportunity lets millions of users and creators on Tik Tok to use popular tracks of artists within Sony Music.
As Tik Tok explained:
“With this deal, the TikTok creator community will have access to sound clips from Sony Music’s massive catalog of current hits, cutting edge new releases, emerging favorites, iconic classics and deep cuts from every genre of music for use in their TikTok content. TikTok and Sony Music will work together to support greater levels of TikTok user personalization and creativity on the platform, and drive new and forward-looking opportunities for fan engagement with SME’s artists and music.”
Previously, Tik Tok even signed a deal with Merlin representing independent music artists and has featured music from popular artists in their videos. However, this opportunity strengthens their connection to the music industry to avoid misuse while also providing a rightful share to Sony.
Tik Tok has even catapulted new artists to release music and to connect with fans as this opportunity will help them enhance their careers. The platform is already known for pushing out hits such as Dreams by Fleetwood Mac and Savage by Megan Thee Stallion and turning them into viral hits through videos.
