Google adds new video editing features on Google Photos

The launch of the Photo Editor in Google Photos offered smart suggestions and granular adjustments that assisted users in leveling up their photo editing game. Now – after successfully upgrading their static image editing capabilities – Google is shifting its focus towards motion graphics: Google Photos is set to launch a new update, which offers a state-of-the-art video editing experience and has over 30 brand new controls to help users edit their videos.

In this update, users are given much more control than the typical trimming, rotation and stabilization capabilities. Users can now crop or straighten the frame and play with elements such as contrast, brightness, saturation and exposure. At the moment, the video editing upgrade is only available on IOS but will be available on Android in the coming weeks.

Google Photos will also put some of its more advanced video editing features behind a paywall. These features include Portrait Light  – which adds lighting to faces, Portrait Blur – which blurs an image’s background and Color Pop filters.

Users will also be able to apply complex edits to their images easily with a single tap under the Dynamic suggestion tool – which enhances the brightness and contrast of images unilateraly – and make automatic adjustments to image color schemes using Sky suggestions.
