Bretman Rock – a Filipino-American beauty influencer – finished the season finale for his MTV show Following: Bretman Rock – a reality TV show that gives fans an exclusive look into his life. MTV initially announced the reality show back in January 2021 and aired the first episode on February 8th – which amassed over 13 million views.
Bretman started his YouTube career in 2013 and rose to fame due to his comedic videos and his unique makeup tutorials. With 8.3 million subscribers on YouTube and 15.5 million followers on Instagram – it’s safe to say that Bretman has a loyal and loving fan-base. Outside of social media, Bretman has an impressive range of accomplishments: in 2019, he won the People’s Choice Awards for Beauty Influencer. He has also collaborated with Wet n Wild and Morphe to launch his own makeup collections.
In an interview with CNN Philippines – Bretman revealed that he wanted the show to help him represent Ilocano and Filipino communities in the mainstream media:
“With the show, it just became so natural for me to not only showcase my life but to showcase my culture as well. The reason why the world is attracted to Bretman Rock is because I am a Filipino”.
Moreover, the final episode – which aired on March 15th – features a birthday celebration that Bretman and his family planned for his mother – who will be moving to the Philippines later this year.
Bretman shared a heartfelt speech dedicated to his mother during the episode:
“I hope to build you your house someday in the Philippines and I just want to do things that dad couldn’t so I hope that you don’t actually mean that you’re leaving this year because that would suck and I would really miss you so much. My mom definitely wants to go back home in the Philippines and although I don’t want her to go home, that woman is gonna do whatever she wants”.
The show has received massive positive feedback from fans – with many eagerly waiting for MTV to renew the show for a second season. Bretman revealed that it may be on the table:
“I actually can tell you I think there is going to be a season two. If there is a season two, I’d do it because the crew was so fun”.
Are you excited for a possible season 2 of MTV’s Following: Bretman Rock? We definitely are.
