YouTuber Joe Sugg has been signed for the upcoming film The Amazing Maurice. The animated film will be an adaptation of British writer Terry Pratchett’s novel The Amazing Maurice and his book Educated Rodents – which is the twenty-eighth novel in the Discworld series.

The plot features a cat called Maurice that meets a group of talking rats. The group decides to head to the small town of Bad Blintz to scam its residents of their money. However, their plans take a turn when they encounter something sinister in the small town. The characters in the film will be played by well-known celebrities including: Hugh Laurie (as Maurice), Emilia Clarke, David Tennant, David Thewlis, Himesh Patel, Gemma Arterton,  Rob Brydon, Julie Atherton and Hugh Bonneville.

Sugg’s upcoming movie release follows his television acting debut for the BBC One drama The Syndicate – which aired its final episode last week on May 4.

Moreover, The Amazing Maurice will not be Sugg’s first time working on an animated feature film: the 29-year-old YouTuber and actor has also previously done voice overs for Wonder Park, The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water (U.K version) and A Shaun the Sheep Movie: Farmageddon.

The film Amazing Maurice is set to premiere sometime next year. Stay tuned for more updates.
