YouTuber Conor Maynard has joined forces with DJ and record producer Alan Walker to release their upcoming single Believers.
Walker revealed that single is a symbol of escapism from the ongoing pandemic and that Maynard was the perfect partner to collaborate with for his latest single:
“Believers’ is a track that I started working on during quarantine. I wanted to create something that makes people happy and lets them escape for a little while. When I started thinking about vocalists for this song, Conor was an obvious choice, and I couldn’t be happier with how it turned out.”
The electro-pop song is inspired by Walker’s love of both gaming and music – with the song’s music video having been created alongside his favourite gamers FAZE and Team Liquid. The music video features Walker and Maynard fighting to win against the Red Nexus regime:
Maynard began his YouTube career in 2009, with multiple song covers of popular artists such as Beyoncé, Usher, Chris Brown and Lee Car. He rose to fame after Ne-Yo recognized his cover of Beautiful Monster. After experiencing growing recognition, he was signed by the talent agency Turn First and then released his single Can’t Say No and won MTV’s Brand New For 2012. Since then, the YouTuber has continued to post song covers on his YouTube channel – including his cover of Alan Walker’s Faded – which has over 96 million views.
Maynard recalled the time when he covered Walker’s single in 2016 and shared his excitement over his latest collaboration with Walker:
“Back when I posted my cover of ‘Faded’ 5 years ago, I never thought it would lead to releasing an original song with Alan himself. When they sent me ‘Believers’ I couldn’t wait to record it, and now I can’t wait for everyone to hear it!”.
