Snapchat announces partnership with Universal Music Group

On June 24, Snapchat announced its latest partnership with Universal Music Group. The global music firm is well-known for working with popular artists such as Taylor Swift, Billie Eilish, Ariana Grande, Post Malone and Lady Gaga.

Snapchat shared their excitement over the new venture and stated that the UMG artists music will now be available for Snapchat users to be featured in Sounds:

“We’re continuing to make it even easier to discover the perfect Sounds for your Snaps…We’re excited to announce a new deal with Universal Music Group to include their artists’ music into Snap’s library and be featured in Sounds, Lenses and more to make sharing a moment even more fun.”

Snapchat earlier released Sounds in October and was widely acclaimed among its users with 521 million videos shared using Sounds. Since its launch, Snapchat has collaborated with other music agencies such as the Warner Music Group, Sony Music Publishing, Universal Music Publishing Group, Warner Chappell, Kobalt, BMG, Merlin members, NMPA members and DistroKid.

Moreover, the American band, Jonas Brothers, highlighted their love for Snapchat and how the deal would help them better interact with their fans:

“We’ve loved using and partnering with Snapchat over the years! It’s a place where we feel creative and where we can get instant feedback from our followers. We’re thrilled they are partnering with UMG because more than any of our past posts, now our fans will be able to use our music to engage with each other and across their posts, Stories and Lenses.”
