VidCon has cancelled its upcoming VidCon US event at Anaheim Convention Center scheduled from October 22 to October 24. The annual VidCon 2020 event was also previously cancelled, with VidCoin launching VidCon Now – a weekly online program featuring top social media influencers.
Jim Louderback – VidCon General Manager – cited in a Twitter statement that the VidCon 2021 event has been cancelled due to the rising COVID-19 cases in the region:
“We were so confident that we’d be able to put on the VidCon you know and love this October and could not wait to reconnect with all of you IRL. Unfortunately, due to the recent increases in COVID-19 cases and evolving health and safety mandates, we have come to the difficult but right decision to cancel VidCon this October. We just can’t risk the health and safety of our attendees, creators, speakers, sponsors, and staff — and we want to ensure we provide everyone with the very best VidCon experience.”
VidCon earlier revealed that their US 2021 event was set to feature multiple digital creators such as Spencer X, Antonio Garza, Brent Rivera, Molly Burke, DangMattSmith, InquisitorMaster, Aaron’s Animals, Isra Hirsi, Taylor Cassidy, Alan Chikin Chow, The Montoya Twinz, MeganPlays, Alex Wassabi, Sofie Dossi, and Trevi Moran.
