It’s that time of year again, when all of the social media giants start offering up recaps of the past year to their users.
Facebook has their “Year in Review” video for its fans. Instagram might not officially celebrate the coming new year with a recap feature, but Insta-fanatics can visit 2017bestnine.com to download a collage of their best images from 2017.
Snapchat is also getting into the recap game with Your 2017 Story retrospective feature.
Your 2017 Story is exactly what it sounds like. Snapchat selects its users’ Snaps that they’ve saved in Memories throughout the year, and packages them into one story that can be saved and shared with other users.
How do you access Your 2017 Story? Simple.
Tap the memories icon, at the top of the “All” tab. You can then save and share Your 2017 Story with other users, if you’re happy with it. If not, you can edit it to exclude any moments you’d rather not relive. Simply “x” out any photos or videos you don’t want in the final cut.
We’re aware Your Story 2017 seems pretty counter-intuitive to Snapchat’s ethos. After all, Snapchat invented the disappearing story. But according to Snapchat, more than one-third of its daily active users access their Snapchat Memories every day. Tens of millions of users also save snaps to their Memories every day.
Couple that with the popularity of Facebook’s “Year in Review” and it only makes sense that Snapchat rolled out Your Story 2017 this year. And while it might be a bit of a novelty, we know Snap fans will make the most of it.
