Love Instagram stories? Check out the new "Type" mode

It’s been a long time coming, but Instagram has officially started rolling out a feature that lets users post text in their Stories.

The new feature is known as “Type” mode, and is available for both Android and iOS users. Users can change the font style of their text and choose a background colour.

Influencers and brands have been posting text images in their Stories for some time now (by “colouring in” a photo, and writing on top of that coloured background). Clearly the photo-sharing app has caught on to the trend, and wants to make it easier for eeryone to share their thoughts via written word.

How do you access “Type” mode? Easy.

When you open your Instam Stories camera, you’ll see “Type” next to “Normal” under the record button (to the left of the “Live” feature).

Tap “Type” and write whatever comes to mind. You can also play around with the different text styles, to change the look and feel. Then, you can pick different background colors, highlight words and phrases or add a background photo.

And like all Insta-stories, you text will disappear after 24 hours.

Considering how many bloggers are now using Instagram as their main publishing platform, it makes sense that the app is working to be more “text-friendly”.

We’re sure brands, influencers and your average user will all be excited to play around with this new feature.
