Bored with your current choice of emoji? We’ve got good news for you.
The 2018 Unicode emoji list has been finalized, and we’re officially getting 157 new emoji in the near future. This means over 100 new ways to express our emotions and ideas in tiny image form when texting, messaging and communicating online.
According to Emojipedia, the new emoji are expected to be included in update 11.0. Get ready for hot and cold faces, a kangaroo, curly hair, partying face, and the hotly anticipated redhead emoji.
Foodies will be excited to hear they’ll have a frosted cupcake and a moon cake to play around with. And when it comes to animals, cute llamas and swans will start popping up in our group chats. We can also expect to see a rather detailed peacock, superheroes and supervillains, receipt for $160, toilet paper, skateboard, magnet, bagel, swan, leg and much more.
Check out the entire list of new emoji on the Emojipedia blog HERE.
The downside is we may need to wait a little while before we can play around with the new emoji.
Judging by the release schedule, emoji fans will probably see the new icons on iOS shortly after the release of iOS 12 (normally in the first or second point upgrade to the OS). That usually comes out in October, so iPhone and iPad users should get the new emoji before the end of 2018. Android release dates are a little less predictable, but expect them to be out by the end of the year.
And if that’s not enough emoji excitement, you can start looking forward to World Emoji Day 2018 on July 17.
Guess 2018 is a good year to be an emoji fan. We look forward to seeing these cute, new tiny images in our messages very soon.
