3 Major Music Labels Now Have Licensing Deals With Facebook

For all you music lovers out there, we’ve got great news for you…

Facebook has officially reached a licensing deal with three of the biggest record label companies in the music industry.

According to The Verge Warner Music Group announced last week that it had reached a deal with the social network, joining Universal Music Group and Sony / ATV Music Publishing. As with those earlier agreements, Warner’s stable of musicians and songwriters will earn royalties from fan-created videos featuring their work.

This is a huge win for creators, vloggers and anyone that uploads video content with music in it. As Facebook (and Instagram) now have an agreement with the three biggest record labels in the industry, you won’t need to worry about violating copyright laws.

In the past, vloggers risked having their content removed or demonetized by social networks and video-sharing platforms, if it contained music that wasn’t royalty-free.

Talk about win-win!

This is a huge incentive for creators to upload their videos to Facebook, and Facebook-owned Instagram, as they’ll now have access to music from the likes of Ed Sheeran and Rita Ora.

Smart move, Facebook.
