How Careem is helping refugees in the region

If you’re a regular use of car-service app Careem, you can now opt for an AED3 donation every time you ride as part of the brand’s latest partnership with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees.

With the Middle East and North Africa region unfortunately playing host to the world’s highest number of refugees (16.7 million) this initiative has been created in honour of the UAE Year of Giving, launched by UAE President, His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

So, how can you donate? It’s really easy. Next time you book a Careem, simply select the UNHCR option which will automatically fix an AED3 addition to your trip, with funds going directly to the UNHCR.

The campaign is set to be rolled out across Egypt, Qatar and Saudi Arabia in time for the first day of Ramadan.Â
