Companies these days are following only one mantra, “Doing business with a sustainable twist.” The only evident reason is to become eco-friendly, reduce carbon footprint and increase clime awareness, encouraging customers to take necessary steps to make it a habit to look for recyclable and eco-friendly products with no carbon emissions.
In line with UAE’s mission to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050, companies in the region are doing necessary updations and innovating their operational processes to become more sustainable and go green.
Etihad
According to Etihad Airlines, “We know we need to be bold in addressing the climate issue facing the planet. That’s why sustainability is at the core of our business and a pillar of our future growth and expansion. And through technology, innovation, and sharing, we’re transforming the aviation industry.”
Being awarded ‘Environmental Airline of the Year 2023’ for the second time, Etihad is aiming towards transitioning the aviation industry to adopt a sustainable approach. By focusing on its carbon emissions, fleet management, and waste management skills, Etihad has succeeded in becoming more sustainable.
Etigad advises bringing innovation, collaboration, and transparency across operations to achieve net-zero targets industry-wide.
Save the planet
Save The Planet’s vision is, “We feel deeply connected to our roots and believe that whatever we do should add value to our planet and not deplete/degrade its resources. We are committed to restoring the balance between nature and human existence.”

They are providers of sustainable, eco-friendly, biodegradable, and compostable products that are sourced from all over the world.

Dgrade
Bringing sustainable manufacturing and recycling into the net-zero circuit, Dgrade is on a mission to repurpose as many plastic bottles into T-shirts as they can. They are turning 20 plastic bottles into one adult T-shirt. The Dubai company is aiming to recycle up to 60 million plastic bottles monthly and produce around 20,000 T-shirts from them.
According to Dgrade, “We are on a mission to recycle over 1 billion plastic bottles this year and spun them into polyester yarns that can be used to make T-shirts, dresses, leggings, and other sustainable clothing options.”
Avani Eco Middle East
Avani Eco Middle East is focused on replacing plastic with bio-based solutions like PLAs. Because everyone talks about taking sustainable actions and banning plastic and its use, but nobody really talks about “Use what, if not plastic?” Identifying the gap, the Dubai-based startup took the opportunity to find replaceable solutions for plastic.
Avani Eco Middle East says, “Many products marketed as ‘eco-friendly’ may not necessarily be beneficial to the environment. The notion of ‘greenwashing’ has been the common denominator done by many ‘green’ companies worldwide to maximize profit without sincere integrity and passion in striving for a cleaner and greener world. We are fully committed to delivering the most economical and best-in-class eco-friendly products with ZERO tolerance towards using petroleum-based plastic to save our planet from this ongoing massive plastic epidemic.”
